The definition of dream is a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep. It can also mean a vision voluntarily indulged in while awake; in other words a daydream, but when i hear the word dream neither of those definitions come to mind.
When i was a little girl I would spend hours in my room listening to all of the up and coming pop stars at the time. I would put on my little costumes and dance around my room with my karaoke mike and dream about being a famous singer. I had it made up in my mind that I was going to do it and I wasn't going to let anybody stop me, i was going to the top one way or another. But, unfortunately, I grew up like all little girls do. when I got into high school i still loved to sing (still do to this day) but one thing i have learned the hard way is that your dreams can get crushed when you listen to too many people instead of staying true to yourself. i was told by family, friends, teachers, etc. exactly how my life was going to turn out. I first needed to graduate high school with a 3.5 GPA or higher so that I could get into a good college where I would meet my future husband and we would get married after we graduated and got into our careers, then after a couple of years we would have some kids who would ultimately turn out just like us and go down the same boring path, blah, blah, blah. It sounds nice and all, but it wasn't exactly what I saw, nor how it actually turned out.
A year after I graduated high school, I met my husband. I knew he was the one as soon as I met him. After that first meeting, there was no turning back. Six months later we were married and 9 months later our daughter was born. Needless to say my family wasn't too happy (actually they were furious). But, I never once felt bad about how my life has turned out because I stayed true to myself. I may not have done things the way my family wanted me to but I did them the way I wanted to and I may not be a pop star to the world but I am to the ones that really matter.
